Solly Baby X Riley Sheehey

The Story

I am delighted to share that my collaboration with Solly Baby launches today!

I was first introduced to Solly Baby by my friend @carly, who had her son a couple of weeks after I had my daughter. We have been sharing links to products we’ve found helpful since early in our pregnancies, but when she told me about the Solly wrap, I have to admit I was a little skeptical. I hadn’t had a ton of success with baby carriers (it felt like Bryn was either squished or unsupported in the ones I’d tried), and I am notoriously bad at following instructions, so I thought a wrap would probably be too much for my postpartum brain to handle. I really trust Carly, though, so I went ahead and ordered one, and I am so glad that I did!

For at least three months after the wrap arrived, I wore it pretty much nonstop (Catherine and I were laughing about the fact that I would forget I had it on and often leave it on without Bryn in it). Virtually anything that I painted from early October to the end of December was painted while wearing a sleeping baby. There was a stretch of time where Bryn would only nap in the wrap, so I ate meals, took phone calls, and held meetings (a few clients got a peek of the back of Bryn’s head on Zoom!) all while wearing Bryn. I cannot stress how much I loved that wrap, and it will forever be my go-to gift for new parents from this point forward!

Words cannot describe how excited I was when the Solly team reached out to me this past fall and asked if I would be interested in working with them to design a couple of prints for their products. To work on a product that helped me so much postpartum really was a dream for me- it might sound corny but it allowed me to be close to my baby while continuing to do what I love. While I wouldn’t change a thing about my first few months with Bryn, my brain often felt like mush, and knowing that she was safe, secure, and ASLEEP while I slowly got back into my work was such a gift for me.

I hope that you love these new prints I created with Solly as much as I loved working on them- this collaboration is one that is particularly close to my heart, and I am so grateful to the Solly team for making it possible!
