Framebridge X Riley Sheehey

The Partnership

I remember listening to the Framebridge episode of the “How I Built This” podcast in December 2017. The interview with founder Susan Tynan was one of my favorites- I had just taken my own business full-time earlier that year, and listening to Susan (also from the DC area) tell her story was so inspirational to me. Since hearing Susan’s story as a female-founded, local business owner, I have used Framebridge for many projects over the past few years, so when they reached out earlier this year about a potential Mother’s Day collaboration, I was over the moon!

The Framebridge team presented their concept- two patterned custom mat designs for their customers to use for gifts this spring- and I immediately started brainstorming. I sent over moodboards for seven different designs, and they chose two- a two-tone pattern with all over vines/florals, and a block-print inspired pattern in neutral tones.

After submitting pencil sketches, the Framebridge team helped me narrow down color palettes for each design. I am so proud of what we created together! The “Clara” is a rectangular mat in a classic blue and white design, and the “Lila” is a square mat in a pink and white floral block print design. The mats are named after Susan’s two daughters!

Mother’s Day

This collaboration is particularly special for me, as I will be celebrating my first Mother’s Day as a mom next month. I had so much fun choosing photos of my eight-month-old daughter, Bryn, to go with the mats. I chose my favorite black and white photo of her to be matted with the “Lila” mat, and a photo from her first snow day to go with the “Clara” mat.

Working with Framebridge has been an incredible experience from start to finish- I am so grateful that they thought of me for this project, and so excited to treasure these matted and framed photos of Bryn for years to come.
