Meet Riley
Riley Sheehey is a watercolor and multimedia artist whose work blends nostalgia, warmth, and whimsy. Her creative world is shaped by folk art, vintage textiles, and the stories found in everyday life. What began as a summer art project during her time as an elementary school teacher has grown into a thriving studio devoted to bringing joy and beauty to others through illustration and design.
Riley’s background in education deeply informs her work — her paintings carry a sense of curiosity and childlike wonder, with hand-painted details that invite a closer look. Over the years, she has collaborated with interior designers, product creators, and national retailers, translating her art into textiles, wallpaper, and collections that celebrate pattern and storytelling. Her first book, Modern Motherhood (Abrams, 2025), reflects her belief that creativity can be woven into the everyday. From her home studio in Fairfax, Virginia, she continues to explore new mediums and ideas, always guided by her love for the handmade, the nostalgic, and the meaningful.
