Pottery Barn Kids x Riley Sheehey, Holiday 2025
I have been waiting a year to share this, so it feels a little surreal that the moment is finally here- my Holiday 2025 collection with Pottery Barn Kids is officially live!
My studio manager, Catherine, had encouraged me to make a list of “dream partnerships” a few years ago, and Pottery Barn Kids was at the top of my list, but I think my mom and Catherine were the only people I’d shared it with. It felt impossible to let myself dream that big- after all, I grew up with the brand. I remember making collages with some of their first catalogs as a middle schooler in the early 00s, designing my “dream home,” so upon reading the first email from the team at Pottery Barn Kids last fall, I immediately called my mom- “you can’t tell anyone,” I told her, “but you’ll never guess who I just heard from about a potential project.”
From that first email to today’s launch, this has truly been my dream partnership. We have been aligned every step of the way, from initial moodboards to sketches and concepts, and I am so proud of the product collection we have created together. The Pottery Barn Kids team has checked every box for me in terms of creative compatibility, and to see my illustrations come to life as hot-air balloon ornaments and toys (the dollhouse! The bear rocker!) and melamine place settings has been the most incredible opportunity.
For this holiday collection, we were inspired by childhood nostalgia and folk art motifs. I love classic children’s book illustration, and over the past decade as a watercolor illustrator, I’ve come up with my own little cast of animal characters. When we were brainstorming themes for this collection, we thought it would be fun to feature those animals in holiday/winter scenes. We added folk art-inspired motifs in a classic holiday color palette, with pops of mint, blush, and berry. The finished artwork and product designs are whimsically nostalgic, and give me the same magical feeling of celebrating the holidays that I had growing up as a child in the 90s.
I am so excited to see these designs at home in your homes in the coming season, and I am SO grateful to the entire team at Pottery Barn Kids for this opportunity- this collection is just the beginning!
